Today is the summer solstice, the first day of summer and the longest day of the year and the most daylight hours to enjoy wine in the vineyard!! We had a group take advantage of those extra hours today. They arrived at Staller Estate Winery around 7 after enjoying their fish fry right across the street at The Duck Inn. Though we close at 6 we were outside tending to the vineyard and flower beds. I always tell customers that if they see us out in the vineyard, to stop in, we are always happy to open. This was a group of six loyal local customers that wanted to continue to have a night-cap in the vineyard. They started with a quick tasting at tasting bar, Blanc de Crescent, Horizon Cuvee, Release 4 were a few of the glasses that we poured, oh yea, a Ice Wine too. Our Ice Wine was especially popular, chilled ice cold and very refreshing as an after dinner wine, especially on the first day of summer! We still have a little Ice Wine available, but not much. The group enjoyed their wine among the vines until around 8. It was a beautiful evening, slightly humid but cooler with a swift breeze and great wine, the perfect first day of summer!
